Field Roast Vegan Hot Dogs

With the Impossible hot dog on it's way, we decided to remind ourselves what the current plant-based hot dog market tastes like. We're starting with Field Roast Stadium Style Hot dogs, which have been around since 2021. They had other products out at the time, but this was the first pea-protein based hot dog to hit the scene in North America.

We cooked the hot dogs according to package instructions. Pan fried with a little bit of oil, these took about 5 minutes to cook with frequent turning to brown all sides. We decided to go all in and make these chili dogs. Trader Joes canned vegetarian chili is vegan and one of our favorites.

We did try one without any toppings just to get the flavor. It was okay, but a little under seasoned for our taste. These hot dogs don't taste as salty as other vegan hot dogs we've tried, so they pair better with extra toppings that you might want.

With the chili, diced onion, and mustard, these hot dogs were bangin'. We went back to the store to buy more two days later so we could eat them again LOL. This is our clear winner for now, and to be honest, we don't know if we want to try other brands. We've had a few in the past and if memories serve, they were. . . just not that good. But we'll have fun with it while the wait for Impossible hot dogs to hit the consumer market continues.
