Seared Bok Choy

Simple and delicious seared bok choy, great as an appetizer or a side dish. Perfect on its own or top this with miso butter from Chez Jeorge to take it up a notch. 


Ingredients

  • 3 baby bok choy

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp water 

  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice baby bok choy in half length-wise. Season cut side of bok choy with half of salt and pepper.

  2. Heat skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil.

  3. Place bok choy into skillet cut-side down. Cook for 1-2 minutes. Turn heat to medium-high and sear for 5 minutes or until browned. 

  4. Season bok choy with remaining salt and pepper, reduce heat to medium-low. 

  5. Flip bok choy over. Add water and allow bok choy to steam for 1-2 minutes. 

  6. Turn off heat and remove bok choy from pan. Optional drizzle of Chez Jorge’s miso butter. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve.
